paving the way for contemporary art in Watford

Attico Arts Centre, 101 Watford High Street, WD17 2DQ.

2 – 9 April 2016

makeready is a celebration of art, music, film and artist-led workshops. Our first event will take place at Attico Arts Centre – the only contemporary art gallery in Watford. Attico is a progressive hub of creativity; supporting and exhibiting emerging artists from the local area and further regions in the UK.

On Saturday 2 April, makeready will bring together a rich tapestry of established and emerging artists based in the UK. Joining forces with Attico, there will be a week-long exhibition of painting, sculpture, printmaking, illustration, photography and handmade books. The week starts with a private view on Saturday 2 April from 4 to 6pm, followed by a launch party from 6pm that will include film screenings and live music from saxophonist Joe Wright, singer-songwriter Tom Charleston, banjo-playing singer Blanche Ellis and Watford-born percussionist Simon Roth. The week is punctuated by artist-led workshops in bookbinding, photography and letterpress printing. The closing party will take place on Friday 9 April where the fruits of the week’s workshops will be exhibited. For the full programme including workshop timings please visit our Programme page.
